Yamunotri is the most sacred place in India. It is an origin of the Yamuna River. The place is in Uttarakhand which is 28th state of India. The area of Yamunotri comes in uttarkashi, which is 3195mtr above from the sea level. The history of Yamunotri contains many myths by the local people and it is heard that the daughter of suryadev who is yami is the original form of Yamuna. Yamuna River is supposed as the holiest river in the list of India’s rivers. The gate of Yamunotri opens at the akshay trtiya’s (vaishakh) in winter season. The yatra is supposed very tough because of the hilly area and the zigzag road way.
In India many people come to visit the origin of Yamuna or Jamuna River and take a bath to make their soul pious. The river Yamuna is also supposed as the sister of the Ganga River. The Yamuna River is also the second largest tributary in India. It originates from the Yamunotri glacier at hight of 6387 metres (20955ft) on the south-western slopes of bander poonch peaks of the lower Himalaya in Uttarakhand state.
According to the mythology and in hindu epic it is written that there was a temple of yam-yami (siblings). The place Yamunotri was the favourite place of yami and she loved to wander there so the temple was built there.
Many people believe that the chardham are the place of taking salvation after death. It is also heard by some people that the temple destroyed once, than the renovation of the temple done by the queen of Jaipur ( Rajasthan) whose name was maharani guleriya sahiba who belonged from kuchwaha rajvansh in 19th century. There is also a pond which contains hot water named as suryakund.
The devotees come every year to take the blessings from Yamuna at yamunotri. The route of yamunotri is starts from haridwar to mussorie – kempty waterfall- then barkot (uttarkashi) then janki chatti (220 km) than upward on foot way.
The gate of the yamunotri temple closes after deepawali at the day of govardhan pooja in kartik shukla first day for six months. When the gateway for six months the worship happens in kharshali (uttarkashi) where a Yamuna temple exist.

• Dodital = ( mysterious lake , birthplace of lord ganesha , depth unknown of the lake)
